EEP Host Site Application Form - 2026
Through the Epidemiology Elective Program (EEP) medical and veterinary students are trained in applied epidemiology, public health, and global health, and gain a population health perspective that influences their career choices and practice. Since 1975, approximately 12% of EEP alumni have entered CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service and more than 60% took jobs in public health.
Student clinicians are placed with mentors to gain hands-on experience by assisting on projects for 6 or 8 weeks. Students apply clinical knowledge and skills to new or existing projects and programs through activities such as, collecting or analyzing health data, assisting with outbreak investigations, evaluating intervention strategies, conducting literature reviews, and drafting reports.
Selected student clinicians are available for 6 or 8 weeks during pre-determined rotation dates. They are matched with mentors at CDC in Atlanta, Georgia, other domestic CDC facilities (e.g., Puerto Rico; Ft. Collins, Colorado; Anchorage, Alaska; Cincinnati, Ohio), other federal sites (e.g., National Park Service, Indian Health Service), and state, local, territorial, and tribal health agencies.
